Katy & Taylor’s Rustic Scottish Inspired Wedding #makinghermcalpine
Sometimes, as a floral designer, you get to do a wedding that truly warms your heart and soul. Not because of all the “Pinterest-worthy” moments (not that there weren’t many), but because of the couple behind the wedding. A special couple that you know were always meant to be together, and you, were lucky enough to be a part of that special union. This was Taylor and Katy’s wedding for me!
I met Taylor back in 2013 when he wanted to talk to me about my business and being an entrepreneur. This boy has a drive for entrepreneurship and has started a few ventures of his own and I know will have many more great ideas that will inevitably turn into thriving businesses everyone will know about!
When he asked that I meet with his soon-to-be bride, Katy, a lovely barista I knew from one of my favorite local coffee shops, to discuss wedding flowers, I was happy to do it!
Katy wanted something more natural with lots of greenery and just accents of flowers! Well this was a unique challenge I was excited to take on for the young couple!
Although they got married at the gorgeous American Wind Power Center, these flowers ended up reminding me of a rustic, Scottish countryside wedding! And since somewhere along the line, I’m sure there is some Scottish blood between the two, I will furthermore refer to this wedding as my Scottish inspired wedding!
I used a collection of burgundy mums, lavender spider mums, green wheat, seeded eucalyptus, dusty miller, dusty blue berries, thistles, maize, succulents, saffari sunset, queen annes lace, mini lotus pods, wax flower, copper wire accents throughout!
Here’s how it turned out!
Taylor and Katy, I wish you a long and happy life together! May you grow in love and spirit as long as you both may live! It’s an honor to know you! Cheers!
